Troubleshooting
Pointing at the notch doesn't open Snippet
Turn on Auto-Show on Hover in Settings (menu bar icon → Settings…). You can always open it with ⌘⌥V instead.
⌘⌥V doesn't open Snippet
Another app may use the same shortcut. Pick a different one under Hotkey to Show/Hide Notch in Settings.
New copies don't appear
Recording may be paused: open the menu bar icon and choose Resume Recording, or press ⌘⌥⇧V.
I clicked an item but nothing was pasted
Clicking puts the item on your clipboard and closes Snippet. Press ⌘V in the app you want to paste into.
A sequence pastes the same item again
Each ⌘V pastes the next item of the sequence. Start it by clicking one of its cards; to start over, clear it with the × in the notch.
Frequently asked questions
What does Snippet actually do?
It's a clipboard manager for Mac. Everything you copy, whether text, an image, a colour, a link or a file, shows up as a small preview in your Mac's notch. Point at the notch or press ⌘⌥V to see your latest copies, then click one to copy it again and paste it wherever you are.
Do I need a Mac with a notch?
No. On a Mac or display without a notch, Snippet appears as a floating panel at the top of the screen. It works on external displays too.
How do I paste something from Snippet?
Click its card, or press ⌘1 to ⌘8 while Snippet is open. Snippet closes and puts the item on your clipboard, ready for ⌘V. In Finder, items are pasted as files.
How many items does it keep?
The latest 50, and you can set anything from 10 to 500 in Settings. Locked items stay until you unlock them, however many new copies come in.
Is it a clipboard history?
It's built for what you're working with now: a sideboard of recent copies rather than an archive. If you want to keep something, lock it. For a longer reach back, search with ⌘F.
Can I search for an image?
Yes. Snippet recognises text in copied images, like a screenshot of an error message, and describes what's in a photo, all on your Mac. Search with ⌘F finds both.
Does my clipboard leave my Mac?
No. Your copies are stored on your Mac, and text recognition runs on it too. The one thing that goes online is a link preview: for a copied link, macOS fetches that page's title and image, just like Messages does.
Which Macs does it run on?
Any Mac with macOS 14.6 or later. Get it on the Mac App Store.
Requirements
A Mac with macOS 14.6 or later. A notch is optional: without one, Snippet appears at the top of the screen.
