Privacy Policy
Last updated
ML Shortcuts works without an account and without an internet connection. It runs your own machine-learning model on your Mac and presses the keyboard shortcuts you chose. The developer never receives any of your data. This policy explains what the app does with it and why.
In short
| What | Where it goes | Can the developer see it? |
|---|---|---|
| Camera image and microphone audio while a model runs | Analysed on your Mac, never stored | No |
| The model you import | A copy in the app's container on your Mac | No |
| Shortcut mappings and settings | Only on your Mac | No |
Who is responsible
ML Shortcuts is developed by Marco Lüthi, the controller responsible for data processing under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Camera and microphone
With your permission, ML Shortcuts uses the camera for image, hand pose, hand action and object detection models, and the microphone for sound models. It only does so while a model is running, which you start and stop yourself. The camera image and the audio go straight to your model, which runs on your Mac with Apple's Core ML, Vision and SoundAnalysis frameworks. They are not recorded, saved or sent anywhere. You can turn camera and microphone access off at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Keyboard and pointer control
To press the shortcuts you mapped, and to move, click and drag the pointer if you turn that on, ML Shortcuts needs the Accessibility permission, which you grant in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. It uses it only to send the key presses and pointer movements you set up. It does not read what you type.
Models, mappings and settings
When you import a Core ML model, the app keeps a copy of it in its own container on your Mac, together with the shortcut you mapped to each class and your settings. All of it stays on your Mac. Deleting the app and its container deletes this data.
No internet connection
ML Shortcuts runs in the macOS app sandbox without permission to connect to the internet. It contains no advertising, analytics or crash reporting, and sends nothing to the developer or to anyone else.
Download and payment
ML Shortcuts is downloaded from Gumroad. If you download it or pay for it there, Gumroad processes your email address and payment details as the seller's platform, under its own privacy policy: gumroad.com/privacy. The developer receives the order details Gumroad shares with sellers, such as your email address, and uses them only to handle your order and answer your questions.
Legal basis
Where the GDPR applies, the processing described above is necessary to provide the features you use (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Camera, microphone and Accessibility access are based on your choice to allow them, which you can withdraw at any time in System Settings. Under the Swiss FADP, we process personal data only as described here and in line with its principles.
What ML Shortcuts does not do
- No account, sign-up or login.
- No internet connection, advertising, analytics or crash reporting.
- No recording or storing of camera images or audio.
- No tracking across apps or websites, and no selling or sharing of data.
This website
This website is a static site without cookies, analytics or tracking. Fonts are served from this website itself, so your browser does not contact third-party font services. When you visit a page, the website's hosting provider (hosted in Switzerland or the EU) automatically records technical access data in server logs: your IP address, date and time, the requested page, referrer and browser type. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are deleted after a short period. Links to the App Store take you to Apple, where Apple's privacy policy applies.
Your rights
You have the right to request access to your personal data and to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. Because the apps store your data on your device and do not identify you, the developer usually holds no personal data about you. Most of it you can delete yourself by deleting the app.
To exercise your rights, email hi@luthi-mar.co. You can also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU the data protection authority of your country.
International transfers
Apple may process data in the United States and other countries. Apple describes the safeguards it uses for these transfers, such as the Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses, in its privacy policy.
Children
ML Shortcuts is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before the change ships, and the date at the top will change.
