About Badgey

In one sentence

Badgey is a name badge app for iPhone: hang the phone upside down on a lanyard and the badge turns to face the room, or slip it into a chest pocket and the name stays on show.

Longer

Badgey turns an iPhone into a name badge with a photo, a name, a role and a link. Clip the phone to a lanyard and let it hang upside down: the motion sensors notice, the badge turns the right way round for the people in front of it, and a lanyard in the wearer's chosen colour drops in. As the wearer walks and turns, the badge swings with them, or holds still with Swing turned off.

Slip the phone into a chest pocket, top first, and the badge shrinks to a strip so the name shows above the pocket's edge. To tell a pocket from a lanyard, the app takes a short look with the front camera, a few seconds at most, and a Core ML model on the iPhone decides. The frames are never stored and never leave the phone.

Users can keep a badge for work, one for the conference they speak at and one for the meetup they help out at, and swipe between them. Add a link and the badge flips over to a QR code anyone can scan. There is no account: badges and photos stay on the iPhone.
