Troubleshooting
My friends can't see me in the group ride
To share your own position you need to be signed in to iCloud on your iPhone (Settings → your name). Without iCloud you can still see the group. Group rides also need a data connection.
I don't hear voice prompts
Check that the speaker button in the navigation view isn't muted, that your intercom or headset is connected over Bluetooth, and that your iPhone's media volume is up.
Navigation stops when the screen is locked
Allow location access for ScoutRoute in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Low Power Mode can also limit background activity.
A GPX file won't open
Open the file from Files or Mail and choose ScoutRoute from the share sheet, or use Import GPX inside the app. If it still fails, email the file and we'll take a look.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
No. To share your own position in a group ride, just be signed in to iCloud on your iPhone.
How does Twisty work?
It tries nearby detours and picks the curviest one that takes at most twice as long. Private, restricted and unpaved roads are skipped.
Does everyone in the group need the app?
Yes, on an iPhone. There is no Android version.
Does it work with my helmet intercom?
Yes. Prompts play through your Bluetooth intercom or headset, and your music ducks for each one. Voice guidance is in English.
Can I use GPX files?
Yes. Import GPX from Files or Mail, and export any route for your GPS device.
Does it need a data connection?
Group rides and Rain Watch do. Navigating in the background uses more battery.
